Begin your journey on the path of herbalism

You’ll be with the guidance of the plants first and foremost, plus your human guide, Herbalist and founder at Of the Earth Apothecary, Katie Ryan. During our time together, you will learn both the very practical ways of working with herbs, as well as dive into plant spirit connection.  Katie’s approach to herbalism weaves both beautifully, and she believes that to be a well rounded herbalist you need to take both into consideration.

What you’ll get

An overview of the course

  • Knowing the plants

    You will understand how to support yourself and your family through common ailments by learning about the body systems and which herbs best support them.  By the end of our time together, you will feel confident knowing which herbs to reach for depending on the situation.

  • Make herbal medicine

    You will learn how to make your own herbal medicine at home, and gradually build your home apothecary through out the program. You’ll make herbal preparations, including teas, herbal infusions, tinctures, oxymels, glycerites, syrups, electuaries, herbal oils, salves, natural skin care, flower essences, etc. 

  • Plant spirit connection

    You will meet your plant allies, welcome their spirits and connect in ceremony through deep journeying with drumming and ancient sounds.  We will learn how to communicate with the natural world, hear the messages of the plants and connect deeply back to the earth's rhythms, and most importantly, ourselves.

  • Community

    We will have lots of opportunity to share what we experience as we move through this program, feeling fully supported and held within our circle, learning deeply from one another.  There is so much wisdom to be gathered from our own direct experience, and hearing the experiences of others.

  • In the garden

    We will be in the medicine garden, seeing and knowing the plants at many different stages of their lifecycle. We will plant, tend, harvest and collect seed. You will harvest dry, and store your own herbs. Much of our class time will be spent sitting upon the earth, in the medicine gardens.
